| We are members of the American Gourd Society, the Florida Gourd Society, and the National Wood Carvers Association. We have been Levy County residents for nearly 30 years, in the same location. Before becoming a gourd grower, Barbara's interests were in painting, woodburning, chip carving, and embellishing gourds with a variety of products and methods, which led her to taking art classes at CFCC in Ocala, FL. After three semesters of art, she discovered the excellent Equine Studies Program at CFCC, and became a full-time "late-in-life" college student working on a degree. Having a love of horses since a child, this has been a wonderful experience, in the heart of horse country. Barbara and her husband, Perry, have been married for over 30 years, and have two daughters. We also enjoy riding motorcycles and are members of the Christian Motorcycle Association. When it comes to fishing, it's hard to get Barbara to "reel it in" at the end of the day! This girl loves to saltwater fish, although there is not much time these days for that kind of fun.
